ALLYSON : NOMAN

Allyson Noman was born in Oakland, California and raised in the Bay Area. She is a first-generation Pakistani-Korean writer and visual artist. Her stories and essays have appeared in, or are forthcoming from, HuffPost, Forbes Wine, The Common, and JancisRobinson.com. Her short story, “Laila” has been nominated for the 2027 PEN/Robert J. Dau Short Story Prize for Emerging Writers.

She received her BA in Creative Writing and Book Arts from UC Santa Barbara’s College of Creative Studies before moving to New York City, where a decade in hospitality led her to Miami Beach as a managing partner of Employees Only. Channeling that definitive time, she completed her debut novel, FLY BY NIGHT (presently querying for representation). The novel is a coming-of-age story set in the booming late aughts restaurant scene of New York City.

Currently based in northern California, she works for Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, producing events and writing about wine. Her work has received support from the Tin House Workshops (now the McCormack Writing Center), Northern California Writers’ Retreat, Napa Valley Writers Conference, and the Wine Writers Symposium, among others.

You can find her on Instagram or Substack for more.
